A little about me

My name is Elena. I am a “young professional.” I have a complicated, though steady, relationship with running. I have an on-and-off-again thing going with piano-playing, sketching, and fiction-reading. I absolutely love to cook — and to sing — two things I often do at once.

On Italian Food

In my head this is an Italian food blog. I have no reason to claim any kind of authenticity with any of my “Italian” recipes, nor do I plan to stick to any particular regional Italian or Italian/American style of cooking. I do come from a mostly Southern Italian-American family and most of my cooking aims to recreate the smells, textures, and tastes from my family’s day-to-day cooking, favorite restaurants, or occasion feasts. Cooking is also a way for me to experience far-away places without leaving my kitchen. On most days I’m dreaming of somewhere in Italy, but not always, and some of my other cooking adventures might end up on this blog as well.
